March 12, 2020 - Executive Order 7 - Takes several emergency actions in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the governor's civil preparedness and public health declarations, including limiting the size of gatherings to 250 people, waiving the 180-day school year requirement, clarifying nursing home visitation restrictions, authorizing DMV to extend renewal deadlines, and relaxing attendance rules for police academy trainees.
Basically, the idea is that when children come to school every day, it helps provide them with a solid foundation. Montessori believed, and this is a principle that we follow at Baan Dek, that consistency and routine are extremely important.
Even if they might not be able to fully articulate their emotions, children share our sentiments towards inconsistency. Coming to school five days per week provides the best consistency and routine for children, which we believe is fundamental to strong development at this early, formative age.

The exception to this rule is children attending pre-arranged extended support activities, who are required to enter the school via the Year 7/8 entrance and report to their supervising staff for registration.
Children who choose to bring a packed lunch into school will eat this in their classroom, together with their peers, before going out to the relevant designated area of the school grounds to play for the remainder of the lunch period. Packed lunches are available to order and are freshly prepared by Chartwells Creative Kitchen, located just outside Broadstone and delivered into school. Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible . The menus are healthy and varied with a seasonal three week rotation, whilst compliant with nutritional standards and the School Food Plan. Creative Kitchens have been awarded the Gold Food for Life accreditation. Meals are ordered and paid for online directly with Chartwells using their Dorset Meal Selector website. Orders must be made at least a week in advance, no later than the Sunday for meals required on or after the following Monday week.
Pupils are not allowed to leave the school during the school day unless we have your specific permission in writing. If your child does need to leave school, for example to attend a medical appointment, we ask for a note beforehand and that your child is collected from the school office by an adult who must sign them out before they leave the premises.
